HELP!! Smiling

I have brought my system up from the base zero start point successfully, HOWEVER, I have not been able to successfully get my video card fully functional for 3D.
Here are the steps I have taken:

1) I updated and installed all necessary drivers through Synaptic
2) I chose the 'nvidia' driver in the Mepis OS Display (this said a reboot was required when finished)
3) Prior to the reboot I made sure the GlCore was # out as well as Dri = # Glcore # Dri
4) I also went through the posts looking for similar problems, and when I found it I made sure my configuration was similar one step at a time.
5) rebooted pretty darn close to 500 times while tracking errors Sticking out tongue

My system is an Epox NForce3 mobo, Verto 6800GT video, 40 gig hard disk, 1 gig memory, Audigy gamer sound card.

When the system booted I went step by step to remove any error messages regarding the XF86Config-4 loading, even went so far as to mod the 'agpgart' file in 'modprobe.d'
My final message at this point is as follows:

Fatal Error Inserting Nvidia /lib/modules/2.6.10/nvidia.nvidia.ko Unknown symbol in mod or unknown parameter.

If anyone has experienced this before, please I need your assistance.

Thanks in advance for any and everyones help!!
