no sound from tv card

hi, new simply Mepis 3.3 user switching from fedora core 3.
I have a saa7134 tv card. I got it to work with Mepis but I can't hear any sound. all cables are connected correctly. In Kmix, line-in is on.
I have no idea why the sound in tv is not working. I can still listen to music so I know the sound card is OK.
any help is greately appreciated.

Use tvtime.
Experiment until you find the right parameters for the bttv module.
On my Pixelview card I have to use 2.4 kernel because autodetection gets it all wrong and the 2.6 kernel insists on autodetection...

this will most likely use saa713x driver.
tvtime is a very reliable tv front end
what is the exact version of the tv card (brand name etc) and what comes up in /var/log/dmesg?

there will be different solutions for different chips
