Toshiba A75-S206 Kernel-2.6.11.6 with working atiixp & Atheros wifi

I am posting this because I have seen a lot of posts regarding toshiba laptops with no sound, and no wireless. I had this problem today with my install of mepis 3.3. The problem was I needed to update my kernel to take advantage of the SMP enabled CPU I am using, and somehow figure out why my laptop kept overheating. After searching the forums I could not find a resolution on this for myself or others. SO here is what I did:

1) First off I attempted a kernel compile ( which kept failing ) due to the fact that my CPU was overheating. So I took out my Gentoo CD, and mounted my / partition to /mnt/gentoo.

2) I began to build the kernel-image by running the command found in /usr/src/KERNEL-README

3) Unmounted the / partition, and rebooted into Mepis.

4) Installed the newly built 2.6.11.6 kernel with snd-atiixp, toshiba, and toshiba_acpi

5) Installed kernel-extras-2.6.11.6 ( for wireless )

I have this image available if anyone would like to use it. I have had no more issues with rebooting, and my sound and wireless work again. If anyone needs this reply to this post, and I will post it for download.

Finally, if this has been resolved, and I just failed to find it feel free to delete this post
