Please Someone Help me solve my USB Mic Problem.

First, my sound in the Control Center is set to AutoDetect.

The sound is enabled and not muted.

My Mixer setting is set up appropriately as I am getting sound and mic is setup correctly. But Here is one of my problems --

When I choose to use my Logitech USB Mic (ak5370) as input on my mixer, it changes the output to be Logitech USB MIC. I tried changing the output back to my ALC650 but it changes input back to My ALC650 soundcard. I can't use my soundcard as an input device because the jack is messed up ( that's why I have a usb mic). In Windows, when I go into my mixer settings, it allows me to pick a separate sound device for input, such as my usb mic, and another sound device for output (my soundcard alc650). I'm assuming that Linux provides the same ablities, but I am new to Mepis and Linux and I don't Know how to fix this problem.

Second problem is when I do set my USB MIC as input, I still get nothing (made sure it wasn't muted). I usually use some kind of recording application to test voice recording and I get nothing.

This is real frustration because Mepis works great except for my usb mic.
I could get rid of windows if I can fix this problem. I need my usb mic to work because I use my computer for communication to the outside world (NO Phone)

usb mic mepis

Hey, I have the exact same problem with my Logitech usb mic. I have googled for an answer to this, but can't seem to find anything that will work. It's frustrating that the mic gets recognized, but can't be used as a capture device. Unfortunately, I'm as noobish as you. Anyway....you are not alone in your pain.

options snd-usb-audio index=-2

To fix this:

as root, add "options snd-usb-audio index=-2" without quotes to the bottom of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

This will stop any USB audio device (usb mic) from taking priority in ALSA.

had the same problem with my webcam with mic.

Using Mepis...and proud of it.
