NumPad loss i Mepis 3.3.1

In Mepis 3.3.1 now everything functions for me except the numeric keys in the num pad. I've run Mepis since the first release but never experienced this problem. I've tried as I usually do, marked for 105 keys and Swedish layout but I can not use the numeric keys in the num pad. Anyone who has a solution?

Is it a normal ps2 keyboard or usb or ? A little more info would help a lot of things cause this kind of thing . More info the more cages you can rattle & might turn the light on in one of em .
jim P.S. you might give 3.3.1-1 a try its absoloutely superb on my hardware , course your mileage may vary due to the zillion diffrent pieces out there!

Thank you, james, for taking time with this annoying problem. Yes, it's a normal ps2 keyboard. I think that the problem is related even to Xine. Every time I use Xine for watching movies the scroll lock indicator lights upp, I don't know why. I think I have changed all parameters regarding keyboard, language and localization but no success. I have tried with a lot of keyboards, same result. As I never experienced this problem in previous MEPIS versions perhabs it's better to wait for the final 3.3.2? But it is very irritably not to be able to use the numpad when i manage book-keeping.

Actually what I really hate is how the NumPad doesn't turn itself on automatically. Is there any way to do this on start-up?

Please observe that the two comments above has nothing to do with my problem, I'm well familiar with the settings in control center. My problem is that I can not use the numpad at all, regardless of adjusting
the numlock settings both in control center and from the keyboard.

have you tried booting to run level 3 instead of straight to kde and see if numpad works there.
might help isolate if its a kde issue or at a lower level...

Hi pod!
When the log in window appears I can use the num pad keys but as soon kde is started I have lost them. So it's obvious a kde issue.

Still the same problem. I often install new programs and alter my system in different ways and sometimes (but very seldom and randomly) the num pad works. I suspected a hardware malfunction but yesterday I tested with five different keyboards without success. Am I the only Mepis user who have experienced this problem?
