How do I download the newest

How do I download the newest version from the KDE Website then install it. I tried the Synaptic Package Manager. It gives me the oder version # for KDE but doesn't give me the option to upgrade to version 3.4.1.
Thanks
Russ

Outta my range

Hi Russ
I'm afraid that's out of my range. I've tried a couple downloads off websites, and have had a lot of ill luck with it. So I'm just sticking with what's available through apt-get. I think MEPIS 3.4 will have it, and I understand that's not too far off.
Do some googling in this forum for "downloading off websites" or KDE 3.4.1, and see what you can find.
Good luck

Hi,
If you search this forum or mepislovers you'll find more info. Basically, what you need to know you can find here (including the packages...) http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/docs/
Be forewarned: migrating to KDE 3.4.1 will pose some issues. It has some architectural differences with KDE 3.3 that will surely lead to problems. If you're really new to this, don't do the upgrade, unless you want to play around and don't mind if you break things..... If you run into something, I'll be able to help you along with a couple of things, but I must say I have decided to stick with 3.3. until Mepis 3.4 comes out.

Hi Russ,
Open up Synaptic Package Manager (Kmenu/System/Synaptic Package Manager). You'll find kde in the list of available packages part of the window. If you highlight one of the visible packages, and type "kde" it will show you that available package. Click on the square to the left of the Debian icon, and mark for installation. Click "apply" above.
