Bob i never have tried kdar but following your post and the one from anticapitalista i decided to try mine
from k menu it will not start, just as bob says and when i run from console i get kdar: error while loading shared libraries: libdar.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
im using simply mepis 3.3.1 with only the default upgrades done since the may release, kde 3.3.2 and the 2.6.10 kernel

Maybe the problem is with Mepis 3.3.1. I'm using 3.3 with kernel 2.6.10 and fluxbox.
Maybe, kdar can/needs to be upgraded through synaptic. I do have libdar.so.2 it is in usr/lib/

I have the same issue with my system. There is a library mismatch. I upgraded kdar to correct the issue and it works, but I could only find an unstable beta. If you want to try this route, you can get the unstable beta from http://kalyxo-archive.mornfall.net/pool/main/k/kdar/kdar_2.0.4-1_i386.deb
Do this at your own risk as it worked on my system, but I don't know if it will work on yours.

Very strange. I just time out. I've tried many times. I rebooted into Kanotix, same thing. I even tried
Windows and IE. Same result.
I'm baffled.

P.S. A local friend just tried the link (copied and pasted into an email) for me, timed out.

hippy, thanks for your help, but it's just not working.
I have left clicked, right clicked, middle clicked. I have used different browsers in different Linux distros, used Windows, and asked a friend to try it. Same result, no connection.
I wonder if it might be available elsewhere?

Hey guys,
could one of you please send the kdar package to my email? I'd be much obliged, and could put it up on a website until it is available in the debian repos.
Please, send to carl at naranyaweb.com if you would.
Thx
Carl

When you say nothing happens, what do you mean exactly? Does kdar open at all? What version of mepis are you using? I'm using Mepis 3.3 and just opened it through a terminal (konsole, as I don't use KDE)
