smbd ?

regarding smbd.
The command appears to be usr/sbin/smbd
I see in my running proccesses smbd and the login for this shows as nobody, at least thats what it says.
What does this mean please and is this normal ?

Samba daemon

smbd is the Samba daemon that allows file sharing. It is started automatically by Mepis. It runs as "nobody" so that if it is compromised it will not have permission to damage anybody's files.
