im a tech guy working for a group of cibercafes and particular clients in argentina, i live repairing windows boxes all the day watching people suffering with malware, stupid mistakes, virus, bad written soft and all that crap.
i was trying to get at the linux world since a lot of time.
tried red hat (i dont like it, and had problems with my hardware.
tried xandros (very cool but a little heavy for my taste and limited, no hardware support for my modems)
tried suse (never worked fine for me)
tried mandriva (all kind of problems with all my hardware)
tried gentoo (too hard to install for a ignorant like me in this)
tried lindows (easy to install but again hardware problems)
i dont remmenber how it ended at mepis.com donwload it tried live installed it in like 30 mins
and after that i was connected to the internet with MY ONBOARD MODEM CHEAP PIECE OF CRAP WINTEL???
i thougt i was dreaming, ALL ALL WAS WORKING FINE???
AT THE FIRST TRY?

It's a D-Link B/G 54MB DWL-G510 it's a PCI card.
Actually I don't know how to check if it's running as B or G.
I thought that all G cards work as B, isn't that right?

I just had a pleasant surprise today
I bought the cheapest Wireless card G that I could find and on the way back from store I started to think "crap, I run Linux it might not work" I just installed it and it works great -- so I can understand your happiness that everything works
