Canon MF3110 and Simply Mepis
Posts: 1
Hi I am relatively new to the use of Linux and have decided that Mepis is the Distro I want to use. I have a Canon MF3110 Laser MFD attached to my system, I however cannot seem to find a driver for it to work under linux. does anyone know of a driver hat would work? I dont really care if the Scanner portion is usable, though that would be nice, I just want o be able to print using it. I really do not want to have to buy a sepearate printer for use while in linux. Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

This Canon Laser is a Windows only printer. You may not be aware that the higher end printers are very much like computers with a CPU, motherboard and RAM. This printer however, saves on manufacture costs by shifting much of the processing work to the system processor to which it is attached. I don't know the real details but I believe the printer relies on the prescense of the windows API to even talk to the computer (in pure hardware) so I think you are out of luck. These are hopeless lasers anyway...
