Onboard VIA video brightness issues
Posts: 27
I was wondering if there are any other drivers available for onboard VIA video? When mepis installed the video drivers it used work okay, but the screen is really dark, and webpages with white text on black are almost impossible to read.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
sure did

yep, I went in there and tried to adjust the gamma. Unfortunatly, it didn't do a thing. Nothing happened even after I changed it and rebooted. Nothing happened when I messed with the color either. I also tried changing the monitor from a generic to the compaq that it is.
Any other suggestions?

monitor?

Are you using a desktop or laptop. try turnig your brightness all the way up if using a monitor. if using a laptop check your bios make sure your external vid port is off so mepis can detect correctly. Can't think anymore simple fix's right now. Let us know if still have problems.
yep, brightness is turned up

yep, brightness is turned up all the way, as is the contrast setting. I know it's not a hardware issue because I used this same setup for windows xp and kubuntu linux and didn't have any problems with it.
is there any command line or code editing way to manually set the gamma higher? the gui frontend of the gamma settings seems not to be working.
if it helps
