http://madpenguin.org/cms/?m=show&id=4966&page=2 the link

i saw the vid for enlightenment so i checked are repos and we have it! so i installed it! it is very interesting and coufussing but cool all at the same time . i think others would probaly want to play with this, so check out the vid for enlightenment and see if you are interested. it's just a click away in are repos. there was no problem with the install it was just 2 packages, then i logged out selected menu then enlightenment and login. prepare to be confused at first site then try your mouse buttons it use's all three. read the instructions on the first run , i didn't and was lost for a little while. Please let me know what u think, me i'm sticking with kde, i'm just not that hard core.

Ok. I've had enough. I've been hearing 'enlightenment' this and 'enlightenment' that, all week long. The screen-shots look like glorified Gnome to me but...

I'll go sit under the damn tree and see what happens...

it looked like xfce to me

It looked liked xfce to me but i tried it, its more like window maker where the desktop is blank till u put stuff on it. like i said though it's not for me. it is fast but takes getting use to i will play with it when i'm bored but still prefer kde. but i wouldn't deprive others of something so interesting. so those my post.

p.s. qtech did u try it? it looks like u just heard about it?

Sitting Under The Bo Tree

I spent a couple days playing with it both on a system at work and it's installed on my laptop at the moment.

FYI, the desktop part of GNOME was derived from E. If you want lots of virtual desk space, you can configure each virtual desktop (there are a maximum of 20 in KDE) to a maximum 8x8 matrix and you can have 32 virtual desktops. That makes a total of 2048 distinct desktop areas!

However, the thing that confused the heck out of me was how do I start an application? It turns out you have to "Regenerate Menus." You do that by choosing the Center-button of your mouse, then Maintenance, finally Regenerate Menus. With that you can access most of the KDE (and GNOME) applications. My post on what I learned so far can be found at:

But yes, I'll stick with KDE, icewm and fluxbox for now Smiling
