Why lock when you can update?

I'm guessing you want to lick the a2ps file because somewhere another thread suggested it as a work around to it's inability to update properly. Rather than ignoring the problem (locking the file) why not fix it?

I found the answer in this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/368352

as root perform the following commands:

#mkdir /var/lib/emacsen-common
#echo "" >> /var/lib/emacsen-common/installed-flavors
#apt-get remove a2ps
#apt-get remove emacsen-common
#apt-get install a2ps apsfilter
#apt-get install emacsen-common

I'm not sure if the first 2 commands are necessary, but it's what I did and it worked for me Eye-wink

well

well i can't really call that a fix as it just creates a different error but does show as upgraded.

Try dselect

I didn't get the same error, so I'm not sure what to do. I've often found that dselect can resolve dependencies that apt can't but can be quite the headache.
