Nvidia kernel/glx version mismatches in repository.

After almost 8 hours of TRYING to get a working nvidia setup, I have found it impossible to do because of the mismatched kernel/nvidia packages in the repositories. Anyone know of a cure/fix before I pull out my last remaining hair?
(WHAT is so difficult in making an nvidia/ati card work WITH ACCELERATION right out of the box??? Many other distros manage to do it... why not Mepis?

Have you tried looking at the results of:
kudzu -p > kudzu1.txt
This would help you rule out meauto.

What Mepis version?
I just installed 3.3.2-test03. The Mepis OS center borks the Nvidia setup (though it displays a 'successful' status).
When I find a resolution, I'll post it.
