I need help to find a good driver

I need help to find a good driver for my 'Brand' 'type' card.
this question turns up frequently; so how do we solve these?
Firstly google
put in "Brand type" linux driver
assess the first 10 to 20 results
look for people who've had success rather than those who've failed
you may get an .rpm a .deb or a .tgz package as as solution
choose a deb first, then a tgz, then rpm
you will have lots of instructions to follow, and you may or may not succeed.

A Google "Trick"

I'd like to add one thing to your posts, Liz and Joe. To reduce the chance of being inundated with all the "hits" that are returned from Google, one can narrow down the search just a mite by entering:
bunch of search words site:mepis.org (or site:someplace.com)
Yes, the Search box on Mepis.org will do this, but I sometimes like to do that from outside a site to get a "broader view".
In any case, your suggestion is a good one Liz: "Go search for solutions before you post".

I am glad you pointed that out. The topic of this thread should be something that is part of the suggested site usage guidelines, even though many people do not read them.

Could Not Have Said It Better Myself

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is a very important point. I often find that it is better to point people to Google rather than try to answer their question directly, hoping that this method will promote the idea of people trying to help themselves first before asking quesitons here. More often than not, the answer to the question is either on this site, is at Mepis Lovers, or can be found using a general search of the web using google.
