The other day in Synaptic Manager I clicked "Mark All Upgrades", and then upgraded everything. The OS itself seems to have upgraded, too.
However, now I can't see any devices (like my USB key). When I click on devices, it tells me that the device protocol is not supported. What do I do?

Did that, saw no change even after a reboot, so I also did it as the 'normal' user, and then it works perfectly and immediately. I hope setting it as superuser is taken into account with creating a new user though... it apparently does nothing for existing user accounts.

open file manage super user mode
enter root password
right mouse click on devices > properties > url tab and change devices:/ to media:/
