Dell Linux laptop debuts

Does anyone know the exact specs on the machine they're putting Mandriva on? Dell offers 2 wireless options, anyone know which one works with MEPIS? Does EVERYTHING work, including the modem? Any Latitude 110L owners out there with any reports about the machine in general (no matter which OS you're using)?

is the link given in the article you reference ...
If you follow this link, you'll get to the specs (though they're in French, as right now I think it's only offered in France). Thanks for the link ... I had posted another article to www.mepislovers.org before, but could not find the laptop itself on any site.
P.S. -- I think their site needs more work
Opening page says "Une solution mobile ?? prix exceptionnel avec Linux install?? ! "
But when you click on "Voir details" it says "Microsoft?? Windows?? XP ??dition Familiale
Microsoft?? Windows?? XP Professionnel"
To actually configure a system you need to set up an account with Dell France -- I haven't tried that yet -- in any case, it's a little overpriced, although maybe they may have sales or offer coupons like in the States.

Dell Linux Laptop
Thanks Mike,
I'll be looking for a laptop soon for my daughter. I wouldn't get the French Dell model, but I would consider getting one from Dell US and putting Linux on it. As always with laptops and Linux you never really know if everything is going to work. I figure if they put Mandriva on this model and everything works then I have a good chance with something other than Mandriva... like MEPIS!

I'm Running a Dell Laptop
Hi Jim,
I am currently using a Dell laptop as my main system and I have had SimplyMepis 3.3.1-1 loaded on it for many months and have been very pleased. However, it's an oldie: A Dell Inspiron 2600 with 384 MB RAM and 1.something GHz CPU. I upgraded the hard drive to 100GB. I am not dual-booting (I don' need no stinkin' Windows). What ticks me off about Dell is that even within a particular model line, they don't have consistency of naming and upgrading. Mine's a 2600, but the newer ones have LOWER NUMBERS.
If you are looking for a laptop with pre-loaded Linux you may want to look at Emperor Linux (www.emperorlinux.com) and Linux Certified (www.linuxcertified.com). Truth in disclosure: I work for neither company, nor have I purchased their equipment. It looks a little pricy, but I have read good reviews on their stuff.
