Azureus problem
Posts: 13
When I try to download a torrent file on Azureus, it says "Error: directory creation failed" in the Status bar. I know that information might not be very helpful, but I just can't get Azureus to work. Any ideas on what might be the matter? Or what other information I could provide? And how I could provide it? Obviously I am new, so please bear with me. I want to learn this thing, but at the moment I am completely lost.

Or you can go to tools>options. Click on 'Files' in the left side menu. One of the options is 'Save to default directory. Check this, and it defaults to ~/.Azureus/download. This is in the .Azureus directory, which is hidden from normal view ( you can display it with ls -a in a terminal). I do this since it means that when I am downloading torrents, my home directory doesn't get full of partially completed downloads. Further down the same page, there is an option 'Move completed files'. This will move a file from the .Azureus/downloads directory to whereever you specify. I also selected the 'Copy and delete the original rather than move it in one operation - can help avoid data loss on some file systems' option, just to be safe (note that if you download a large torrent, it can take a while to copy the data over, so don't be alarmed if Azureus shows your completed torrent as 'Finished' but still in the downloading section - it is just copying it over to its new location).
Hope that helps, post back if you need more info.

I too will want to use Azureus for
torrent files so this will likley be the first of many
questions.
A download directory usually has to be defined
for a torrent and there is tracker information that
has to be dealt with for uploads.
Does Azureus have anything to say about this at an
Azureus forum? I'm just starting with this myself.
