Wow

I just noticed that mepis has a advertisement at distrwatch. I've never noticed that before. I usally block all add's and ain't got around to blocking distrowatch add's yet. That's great that mepis is being advertised though.

Actually...

...they've been advertising there for a while.

I wonder if Mepis is any good and if I should give it a try Smiling

No, I block a lot of ads too, but on "respected sites" and ones THAT DON'T HAVE ANNOYING, BLINKING, SCREAMING ADS I usually leave them alone.

Jon

hey jon

I know it wasn't there before. But since distrowatch add's are already blocked on my old install's, I never saw it.LOL . I've been testing pclinux and i am still setting it up so i only just noticed. I know not all add's are bad but it adds to load time, and since i'm on wireless every bit counts. It takes 10+ seconds to load with the add's, with out the add's it takes 6 or less seconds to load(according to FasterFox, i love that counter thing) since my connection varies i take advantage of every bit of signal. So jon, as much as i love to look at the mepis add, i'd rather have the speed. And "Yes" jon, you should try MEPIS it is the BEST.LOLOLOL.

hi kerry how is pc linuxos

hi kerry
how is pc linuxos running for you-just got finished installing could not shut down ,92 test1 test 2 shutsdown for me.john

Hey jhon

I have'nt installed the new .92 test2 yet i got busy with the kids. I will try to install later on tonite. I'm in no big hurry , i did run the live cd and it looks pretty much the same. It said on the site that this just has fixes for some bugs. Funny thing is i looked at the bugs list and most of them i fixed already in this test1 version.

Hey jhon check out this app in pclinux >right click on the panel >add to panel>applet>simple system monitor. Right click on the square and select flame. Every time the processor is in use it looks like a nuclear bomb going off. It's just KOOL, way better than the regualer system monitor. If you want to see the regular processes just do a regular(left click) on it. catch ya later.

hi kerry just installed ff

hi kerry just installed ff rc1 on pc linuxos it works fine.going to put ff through the usual tests.i also like the system monitor on pc linuxos.well tried new ff rc1 it works great and upgrades the java when you goto a site that needs it-the only problem i've had is trying to connect to hotmail-amsn-had to down load mozilla to get hotmail connection.pc linuxos has a great review at distrowatch-still running pc linuxos .92 test 2 .its a good distro-still am waiting for mepis 3.4.am running mepis on other computer and keep switching back and forth between pclinuxos and mepis-i find that you can do more with mepis than pc linuxos.have a great day kerry.john

hi kerry.wrote an update did

hi kerry.wrote an update did not post.read former post.thanks john

Hey jhon

I just got .92 test 2 installed last night and finally got everything setup the way i want. most of it i just copied over from the test 1 install(firefox, back ground, right click menu,etc...) I'm not having any problems connecting to hotmail with the new firefox rc1. Does it not want to connect or is it just taking to long to connect? It might be one of your extensions. Try open your home >view >show hidden >right click on your mozilla folder >rename > change from .mozilla to .mozilla.old. know try to connect with your hotmail it will create a new mozilla folder and it will be the stock FF. To go back to how it was delete the new .mozilla and rename the old mozilla by removing the .old part. Let me know if you were able to connect with the stock. If so then you can figure out which extesion is blocking you by >open extensions >right click on it >disable. You will have to do it one at a time and open and close FF each time, you proably want to set your home page to msn so you can test it faster. Let me know how it went.

just got kanotix rc15 liteup

Hey jhon

I'm still messing with arabian linux. It's not bad, it's based on kanotix but with alot more stuff. I'm not sure about all this arabian stuff though. This is going to take a little time to get use to. It has that little bit of slowness like kanotix has. It still looks like it needs some more work to me but it seems to work.catch ya later

kanotix running well-a lot
