I'm a newbie to Mepis. I figured out how to get sound working but can't seem to get networking up so I can do printer sharing.
My DSL modem is a Actiontec with four ethernet ports. Both computers are Dells with one of them having Windows XP Home and the other is a Dell with Mepis. To keep in simple I've named one computer DELL1 and the other DELL2. The network name is HOME. Each computer is plugged into an ethernet port on the DSL modem. Each computer is able to access the internet.
Are the any steps I have to take to get both computers to talk to each other so I can share a printer on DELL1?

My DSL modem is/has a four port router. I use two of them for my network. Right now my second computer isn't being reconized on the network. I assumed an ADHOC network. Maybe I am wrong. Do I need to turn on any servers for my local net (ethenet of course)?
I tell mepis to do a manual search for the second computer and it finds it but I can't drill down into it. File and print sharing are both on.
I'm wondering if Guarddog has something to do with it.
