That download appears to be still uploading so you might want to wait till it's done.

try distrowatch--> http://distrowatch.com/

DoS Anyone?

Ah yes, Warren finally makes an "official" announcement, says "check the mirrors", and the mirrors are wrong, incomplete or "in-process" Sad

I'm still trying to get to the link you pointed to kerry. So far, no go. I guess I'll have to be patient too DAMMITDAMMITDAMMIT! Smiling

I'm on a different computer, so I don't have my subscription info handy; although I don't know that that would make much difference.

What?

I'm still downloading from distrowatch right now. It's wierd though this iso is only 480.3mb. So it's smaller than all other versions of mepis. You want me to e-mail it to you jon?LOL

Jon Du Quesne's picture

New Delivery Method

I think you're on to something kerry. Why don't we start emailing the ISO to everyone with gmail accounts and we'll see if we can make Google notice LOL.

Nah, I've done without the 3.4 version so far, I guess I can be patient FOR FIVE MORE MINUTES, but after that, I'm done, I've had it, I'm gonna switch back to Wind... WHAT AM I SAYING??!!!

I'm fine now. I'll sit here quietly (dum de dumm...)

I don't know why it says 480

I don't know why it says 480 MB on distrowatch, it's 690.7MB.

Try This One

Folks, don.ward, at this link:
http://www.mepis.org/node/8356

points to this spot:
http://ftp.wustl.edu/pub/linux/distributions/mepis/SimplyMEPIS_3.4-1.rc1.iso

But don't directly click on it or you'll get garbage. Instead, right-click and "Save Link as...".

I'm downloading now, 75% done, approx 30 min. left. So I should be done by Friday Smiling

Next, we'll see if the md5sum stands up...

Jon

kerry's picture

What the h@#$

There's no reserfs in qtparted. I usally use all reserfs but i guess this time i have to go with ext3. I hope they put reserfs back on in the next version.

never mind you can still select it in install. Smiling

Finished The Download

The link above seems to stand up. I just finished the download and the md5sum matches. So far, so good.

Jon

Kerry, regarding (non-existent) reiserfs: There's a command called convertfs that you can load from apt. Once loaded, from the command line enter (as root, on unmounted file system):
convertfs /dev/hdsomething ext3fs reiserfs

You'll receive a scary message that the world will no longer be the same, and you must respond with AN EXACT PHRASE, Upper- and lowercase, to continue. On an empty file system it runs very quickly.

Jon

kerry's picture

it's cool jon

i just wanted to install on reiserfs and when i went to format with qtparted it didn't have it. But when you get to the pick your file system you can choose reiserfs. I did not find out till i installed. Smiling
This new mepis also seems slower to me.Also the auto updater is disabled in FF 1.5.Why do that?
