Can anyone suggest an app for Mepis/Linux, similar to DVD Shrink.

Many thanks

Robbo

K9copy.

K9copy.

k9copy

Just to agree with Pohjola, this is the best native linux equivalent to dvdshrink.
There are others out there, eg xdvdshrink.

BTW dvdshrink and dvddecrypter both work with WINE

DVD Shrink

I have tried to install k9copy, however I get so far then get this message, and can't get any further.

See the following message.

k9copy:
Depends: kdelibs4 (>=4:3.3.2-6.1) but it is not installable
Depends: libqt3c102-mt (>=3:3.3.4) but it is not installable

What does this mean, and how do I resolve the problem.

Any help would be appreciated

Many thanks

Robbo

You have Mepis

You have Mepis 3.3.x?

Install these using Synaptic:

DVDAuthor
libdvdread

Dowload K9Copy from here
and install.

DVD Shrink

I had these already installed, but updated to the latest revision, but still no success. Still get the same message.

I already have kdelibs 4:3.4.2-4 installed, do I need to revert to the earlier revision 4:3.3.2-6.1.?

Have you then tried adding

Have you then tried adding

deb http://repos.knio.it/ etch main contrib non-free

to /etc/apt/sources.list and install using synaptic?

K9copy

Success at last.

I still could not get k9copy to install using synaptic, however, I downloaded the Tar file to my desktop, extracted it to the desktop and then right clicked the unpacked icon and installed using Kpackage.

Installed DVDauthor to complete the task, everything now seems to be working.

I haven't tried to burn a disc yet, thats for another day.

Thanks to everyone for their help/suggestions.

k9copy crashes on me and

k9copy crashes on me and xdvdshrink as well. I would rather use wine and dvd shrink myself, I have it installed just cant get dvdshrink to see the DVD Drive

Many thanks for K9Copy, but

Many thanks for K9Copy, but since I've yet to try copying anything in Linux, will I need something akin to DVDDecrypter, and if so, where might I find such a utility?

DVD backups...

I have not found a suitable linux solution for this purpose. This is one reason I run WinXP in a virtual machine, and use the freeware DVDFabDecrypter/DVD Shrink/Imgburn combination.
