I just installed mepis 3-4-1 RC1 & tried to set up my epson stylus CX3200 USb printer & got the following error:
------
Unable to load the requested driver:
Unable to create the Foomatic driver [Epson-Stylus_CX3200,gimp-print]. Either that driver does not exist, or you don't have the required permissions to perform that operation.
----------
I had this printer working under Simply Mepis 3.3.1 so is this a bug & how do I fix it?

Having HP printer problems

Having HP printer problems here too. Seems a bunch of folks are having the same problem of no printing now. All of the config routines are useless so far. No error messages show, everything looks normal right up to the point after you click 'print'.... not a peep from the printer.

Printer problems too

I have a HP Officejet 6210 and I am having problems too with printing. Funny thing the scanner works fine and also the hp utility for cleaning and alignment works. Just need to get the printing working and I will be a happy camper.Eye-wink

For permissions go to control center

You have to go to the control center and login for administrative mode, there is a button toward the bottom, then login using root pass.

Then add your printer

I don't know if this was inteded to be this way but I can't seem to add or change any part of my printer configuration without going to control center then loggin as administration mode

Anyhow I did add my printer etc. but I have not printing functions no test page nothing with the new 3.4-1 rc1

I like the look and feel thought and the Deer park is working nice, but now I got no printing

Oh well, back to the drawing board LOL

Hope this helps

Printing with 3.4.2-rc1

I followed the suggestions given per mepis.org and still had no printing. I tested with each change and with each driver and each printer (HP 1012 and HP 722C). Before giving up on this fresh install I installed udev. Fixed it for me. This removes hotplug and may cause some problems with some devices per others who've done it. I've not had problems with what I normally run.Smiling

Note: The 1012 is USB and the 722C is Parallel. Neither worked without udev installed.
Shocked

a current state of mind

Me To Now Working Fine

Hi I've done the same added udev, and removed hotplug, also added one more file that synaptic recommended when adding udev. but can't remember what it was called, but anyhow I added that one too

All printers working fine here, I know that this process is suppose to cause some type of problem with wireless stuff or I think mainly on laptops etc. but Mine is working fine
