Limewire
Hi all
I understand the pro's and cons of limewire, however although downloading non-copywritten material is nice.
I wish I could pay and download copywritten materials.
Limewire works sooooo well on linux, why can't they make it right and people would pay for their downloads.
Does anyone know of the legal way for linux to download music.
I know itunes, with crossover, but I don't want crossover right now I just want linux and download legal music, and burn to CD to play and learn songs for out band.
This is sort of a duplicat post under an itunes forum post but this is really related to all others other then itunes for now.
Please advise a solution for this please.

I ran in to the same problem recently.
apt-get remove limewire-free
But what I need to know is what version of Mepis you have and whether or not you saw any Java error messages (limewire runs on Java). My point being that I think Java maybe broken (not limewire) but where exactly I can't pin down.

do you think that perhaps that the java is also what is freezing my firfox browser
I have mepis 3.3.1
And I've updated fox to 1.0.7
Anyhow limewire use to work, I'll try the new java, however my understanding is that people were having trouble getting the new java to work properly so I've been staying away from it

I don't know if the problem is related. Broken Java can crash your browser but there was also a buggy build of Firefox recently. If you have upgraded it should be ok.
The Java solution in the Wiki should get that end of things back up and running.

I used those instruction to install java and use Limewire and everything worked like a charm but now l use Apollon and GTK-Gnutella for downloading music. With Apollon l can access the Kazaa network by using Gift and FastTrack.

Well I spoke too soon
I installed Limewire just to see if it still installed and worked as I remembered.
And keeping in mind that I do not download illegal copies of anything at all.
Well Limewire freezes my machine on startup, so now the question is how to uninstall Limewire
