Cannot open Krec.

I have planned to record my old vinyl records to CD's, and I would use Krec to recor the music, but everytime I try to open Krec, it chrashes.
I have tried to report the crash to KDE, but I do not understand their
reporting system, and since Krec works in PCLinuxOS, I thougt, that the problem could be in Mepis.
I have tried to reinstall Krec, but the result is the same.
But can't I just use PCLinuxOS 0.92, one could ask?
Because in PCLinuxOS I can't get access to my CD-drive.
I hope, that somebody can help.
Best regard and happy new year

Is there any way to restore

Is there any way to restore a file recorded in KRec? I downloaded Audacity and played the exported WAV file. The file is FUBAR and sounds like it is playing at 100x the speed. The original 4-5 minute recording is over in half a second.

I rescued my wav file. I just cut the EXPORT short... didn't watch the very thin 1 pt progress line in KRec. I did the export again and now I have a decent wav file.
Audacity is now the problem. Every other app BUT Audacity will play the file.
What do I do to integrate LAME with Audacity?
Do I install the Lame packages or the graphical, GLAME stuff?
Or do I just need a library ?

Hello Kaj,
I have had problems with KRec also. May I recommend the program Audacity for recording available through Synaptic Package Manager. Many features and very easy to use. I use it to record live concerts from the sound console and get amazing results.
