Serial Ports not recognized

Mepis 3.4.2rc1 appears not to recognize any serial ports. When it boots up it shows tty0 thru tty3 no such file or device. When I go into kinfo>interrupts it doesn't show IRQ 3 or 4 and in I/O ports no serial ports are listed.

In Shell Will@1[~]$ ls /dev/ttyS*
ls: /dev/ttyS*: No such file or directory
Will@1[~]$

My Computer:

Asus mew-am motherboard i810 chipset
Celeron(Coppermine) 666mhz
Nvidia GeForce MX4000
