Weather Applet / Aquarium

Regarding the weather applet being installed on the live CD, I'm very much against it, because it is locale specific. Warren posted instructions on how to configure it or remove it, but that's not something I want to do every time I start up the live CD.

I say keep live CD distributions really clean and usable. Nothing should be added to the panel that is essentially an amusement. Unless someone can tell me that the Aquarium actually has some purpose such as indicating system performance or Internet traffic load, I believe it should be left off too.

I have the same complaint with Kanotix 2005; in that Kanotix has instructions that pop out every time you boot up. There is also an icon on the desktop that pops up the same instructions, so it shouldn't be necessary to close the instructions window every time you start up. I say keep live CD distributions really clean and usable.

I don't have a problem with an Internet Browser or Word Processor Icon on the taskbar that is specific to a particular distribution's installed software, but adding things on that point to only one region of the country and require user input is ridiculous. The user should be in charge of the computer, the computer should not be forcing a user to perform repetitive tasks.
