Trying to FISH a large file

I have two machines. One is running Mepis SOHO and the other is Simply Mepis3.4-3 rc4. The SOHO machine contains a large 2.5GB zip file that I wish to transfer to the other machine. From the Simply Mepis unit, I entered conqueror and typed "fish://192.168.254.5". I then found my way to the large file and tried to copy and paste the file into my Simply Mepis home directory. I quickly received a message that it could not read the large file. I have done this many times before with files in the 700MB file size and even copied and pasted another 500MB file from the same directory as the larger 2.5GB file. Is there a size limit that "fish" is able to use? I then used sftp to transfer the file with no problem. I checked all the permissions and since "sftp" worked it has left me puzzled. Anyone have an idea??
