kde 3.5

I think I saw yesterday KDE 3.5 in KPackage, although I use the default repository (etch), not sid... which should mean that it's become a little more stable now. Has someone tried this yet? (I mean the version from etch.) Is the process more or less painless? I'd like to install that, but I don't want it to break my beautiful new system Smiling

I tried it while it was in

I tried it while it was in experimental and didn't have any problmes, however it's wise to wait for a while to make sure all the KDE 3.5 packages make it to Etch.

kde 3.5

Hi

I upgraded k9copy to version 1.0.3.1-1 and it showed that some libraries
would be upgraded and i did not examine them (as usually).
I was happy that nothing was removed.
Then i opened control center and noticed that i have kde 3.5.1
In K-menu it still shows kde 3.4.
I guess i have kde 3.5 now.
I have no changes in my system.
I use following repositories:

# Primary
deb ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

# MEPIS apt pool - specific packages available on-line
deb http://apt.mepis.org/3.3.2/ unstable main

Not sure if i upgraded from testing or from unstable

You may not have all of 3.5.

You may not have all of 3.5. A long list of libraries and programs would have been installed. If just a few were installed you do not have it all. There is an entry in the mepislovers wiki that is a safe upgrade guide to KDE 3.5. You may want to take a look at it.

Works OK for me

I did a dist-upgrade in console mode on 2 machines yesterday and everything working well so far.

Kde 3.5

I installed 3.4-3 and changed my main repostory to sid upgraded kde base and all dependencies. Then I did a search for "KDE" and upgraded all the apps that were upgradable and everything works just fine!

I guess never. Sarge doesn't get new program versions only bug fixes.

Upgrading to KDE 3.5

I followed the recommendations posted by "Kerry" a few weeks ago and have been successful in upgrading 5 MEPIS installations to KDE 3.50.
So far, not a single failure.
