Windows Domain problem

Hi allz,
I m new to Mepis and I m trying to connect to internet and was unable to connect.I m behind a proxy server and it is using a domain login method that is from my winXP in browser i write in Tools>Connections>Lan Settings>use a proxy and in proxy i typed proxy name which is server1 and in port 8080 and I m succesfully browsing the net from winXP and from Mepis I was unable to browse also after giving the name of proxy server in preferences tab of Mozilla or Konquerer.Please help its urgent
My username in winXP is cableuser34@newworld
My password in winXP is *****
One more thing I can also see many computers from my MEPIS box but unable to browse the net

proxy entries in konqueror and firefox are usually numeric
(mine is 192.168.79.1, then the port)
I don't know if this will help you or not, as i do not know if the login is relevant or not.
