Apt-Get does/gets nothing

Posts: 13

Hi.
I cannot install anything using apt-get.
All I am given is something like the message below:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Package vim is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package vim has no installation candidate

I am assuming there is a config somewhere. There was a setting in the OS centre in a previous version of SMepis which set the locations of the packages but I cannot find that now.

Help will be appreciated.

Neil.

Try this at root commmand

Try this at root command prompt:

$ apt-get clean
$ apt-get update

And see if it dont help you out. And if it don't, post your /etc/apt/sources.list

Maybe one day I'll be able to help if I ask enough questions.
