I have mepis runnnig and I LOVE it. But, I want to play a game in WinXp. How can I install WinXp without removing Mepis or reinstalling it.I have a Sata hard drive.sda1, sda2, sda3 are root swap and home respectively. A have also 3,5 gb free, unallocated space. I need minimum 6-7 gb for windows. What should I do? Should I partition home with qtparted and create a new ntfs partition for winxp. And if I install WinXp in that ntfs partition will I be able to dual boot?Help me please:)

How about trying to play that game in WINE or with CrossOver and keep your MEPIS intact? Many M$ games will play in one or the other of these programs.

Funnily enough I was going to pose the same question. Haven't tried CrossOver yet, but I can't get Wine to run for whatever reason. I was thinking of maybe use a spare drive that I have available at the moment, disconnecting my two current ones, plugging that one in as Primary Master and installing Windows, then putting it back as a secondary (so it would be hdc, say) and pointing GRUB to it. Anyone know if this would work at all?
I'm going to give CrossOver a try though, see what results that brings. I'm interested in running games like Myst and Theme Hospital that I just dug up from the recesses of my removal boxes. Sadly my Windows laptop isn't really strong enough to run them, graphically.
Unless your going to keep

Unless your going to keep plugging and unplugging your hard drives. Windows has to be on the first drive, first partition. Then I would try booting and reinstall grub from your mepis CD. I don't know if just editing grub menu.lst would be all needed.

You should be able to boot,

You should be able to boot, however is not always easy to set it up. First of all Windows will overwrite MBR so you'll need to reboot Mepis CD and reinstall GRUB. To make it boot Windows from a different partition you might need to use some "fancy" GRUB commands like "hide" -- read in GRUB manual.
Another problem is resizing, I had problems resizing ReiserFS partition, it's a good idea to back up on CDs things that you'd be sorry to lose.
