3.4.3 can not find modem
Posts: 75
I finally got 3.4.3 installed and it looks good. But the modem is not working although it was working before I upgraded to 3.4.3.
I am getting this message???. Kppp can not find: /dev/modem
Please make sure you have setup your modem device properly and/or adjust the location of the modem device on the modem tab of setup dialog.
So what is happening? I am sure someone has had the same problem. I have looked through the forum and have not found anything on this problem. Please I need your help. Can not proceed until I get this modem working.
The improvements to this version look real good and am hoping to get this kink fixed pronto so I can go to work.

Modem Does Not Respond On Upgrade From 3.3 to 3.4

I also encountered the same problem when upgrading, the previous version (3.3) worked fine. The default is set to /dev/modem which isn't set so I pointed it to /dev/ttys0 which gives 'modem does not respond'. Do I have to move back to 3.3 ?
Peter - did you resolve this issue ?

I have had a similar experience with 3.4.3, Peter, as you can see here:-

My solution (which I really hated to do) was to sign up for DSL.
It has turned out to work really well and the DSL is only $12.99/month

I changed the modem tab from /dev/modem to /dev/ttyS0 and am now getting this when I try connecting on kppp.
Modem ready and then modem does not respond message. I guess the computer is seeing the modem but it is not able to ???talk??? to it.
What do I do next to get it to talk?
