Support for epson printer

Epson Stylus C63 is supported in Mepis.

How can i install it?

Start the control centre if using SM3.4.x, or System Menu > Printers if using 6.0

In both, you can type kcontrol into the run dialogue box from the K menu.

kcontrol > Peripherals > Printers > Add Printer class
Choose your connection type
Find Epson in the list on the left, then C63 on the right and follow the prompts.

I am a new user of Mepis and I am having great difficulties installing my printer, Epson Stylus Color 640. The recommended driver is not available and choosing another involves printing up to 30 pages of "gobledegook" characters (why does one need to see all that rubbish) only to find that it will not work. I have now gone though the top 5 driver choices and having wasted nearly a ream of paper and two ink cartridges, I had to admit defeat and give up.

Without a quality printing facility the OS is of no use to me.

Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Alex that epson should work good in Mepis I have a 600 that works fine . Whitch version of Mepis are you working with ? There have been quite a lot of changes in Linux lately so the version youre running is important to know. If when testing the printer you get lots of pages of gibberish just hit the power button and turn it off for a while and go into print manager on bottom click admin mode supply root password and delete all the items in the jobs panel. When you turn it bsck on it wont continue wasting ink and paper, it allso should clear printer memory .

I cannot thank you enough. It worked. I just picked the driver from the top of the list and followed your instructions to avoid printing gibberish.
