Problem with system clock on Acer Aspire3020

Hello,
I'm a new user of Mepis. I've installed on my laptop Acer Aspire 3020 the SimplyMepis 3.4.3.
I have this problem: the clock runs at double speed! For example: after 30 seconds the clock signals me that an entire minute is passed.
This problem has two consequences:
1) the former, obviously, is that the system clock is always wrong. Note that I've also WinXP on the laptop and with this OS the clock is OK.
2) the latter is that all the multimedia files (audios, videos, animated gif) run at double speed. Pratically it is impossible for me to read multimedia files in a decent way. Note the sound card is correctly configured.
Can you help me please?
I thank you in advance for the help.

Timing on AMD64

Welcome to Mepis!

Look at this thread http://www.mepislovers.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=14928&start=0

Try boot parameters
noapictimer irqpoll

and also check the Acer web site for a BIOS update <<<=== most important

You add boot parameters to the GRUB boot screen on the line that usually ends in vga=791 (your cursor will be there -- type the parameters)

If they work you can edit /boot/grub/menu.lst as root to make them permanent

If they don't work read thru the post and the link to ubuntu forum for other boot parameters to try

Post to http://www.mepislovers.org --- very helpful forum

Use the wiki -- http://www.mepislovers-wiki.org/ -- You can search it!!

Download the user guide (link at left)

Hope this helps you

Mike

Timing problem solved

Hi,
I solved my problem adding the noapic function to menu.lst file. Now the clock and multimedia behaviors are correct.
Thank you very much for the help.
