printer driver problem
Posts: 45
i downloaded specific drivers for my canon i250, followed the instructions for installation, when i click the add printer in the kmenu mepis sees the printer through the usb port, and when i go through the drivers i found that the i250 was added to conon's list as it was supposed to(having installed the drivers).
now when i try to print a test page nothing happens, the funny thing is that when i previously tried any of the drivers under canon(before installing the files i downloaded) the printer would at least blink. now i've got the files...nothing.
the files are in rpm format, i did the conversion to deb. using "alien" and installation went ok as far as i know.
these are the two files used by the on-website guide for installation
rpm file of BJ Filter
bjfilteri250-2.3-0.i386.rpm -------- i250 scripts, libraries, etc.
(2.3-0 is the version number.)
rpm file of additional module for CUPS support
bjfiltercups-2.3-0.i386.rpm
and here's a link to the website
http://www.canon.co.nz/products/printers/colour_bj_printers/i250_drivers.html
i feel that i only installed the name of the printer in the backend(printer list) file and not the actual drivers..
where did i go wrong?

When I converted the first

When I converted the first file I got a message that scripts where ignored. So if you didn't use the scripts parameter try this.
alien --scripts bjfilteri250-2.3-0.i386.rpm
Then install the .deb files that was generated.
