HP LaserJet 1000

I'm using SimplyMEPIS 3.4 from a live DVD. The system recognizes my printer correctly as a HP LaserJet 1000 and lets me alter the Settings for paper size etc. However when I do a Test print nothing happens and no jobs show in the print queue. What do I need to do to get my printer working with Mepis?http://www.mepis.org/misc/smileys/puzzled.png

I used the KDE Print Control (I assume) - just found the item in one of the menus.

Regarding the link to the linux printing site, how do I do the necessary install when I'm running from a live DVD?

not possible

you can't install anything when running from live Cd
find an old hard drive and install on it.

HP Laserjet 1000

The good news is that if you do install 3.4 then use the script available at linux printing your Lj1000 will work very well with Mepis.

Btw it also works with Suse 9.2, 9.3, and 10 because I used these distros before moving to Mepis.
