The windoze machine is your problem...

I'm assuming that you are sharing the printer FROM an nt-based box (i.e., some flavor of xp), so I'll make a few comments about the situation with that in mind:

Firstly, go to linuxprinting.org and check support for the printer you mentioned.

Also make sure both machines are on the same workgroup.

Next, you'll need to configure the windoze firewall with exceptions in place for file and printer sharing.

ZoneAlarm, McAffee or Norton/Symantec firewalls, if present on the windoze box, are going to give you problems in this respect. (I've seen customers who have six firewalls installed and fighting with each other.)
I generally disable the windoze firewall completely, remove all other firewalls except ZoneAlarm, and configure ZA to trust all nodes on the the local subnet.

You may need to re-install the NETBEUI protocol (It's probably not there anymore.) since, as of {IIRC} sp2 (or earlier) it is officially unsupported.

Something they (msft) do removes NETBEUI completely from the machine, and I can't remember exactly when in the xp timeline that this happens.

[I have to think that this is one of Redmond's typical 'froggie-moves' to keep interoperability with Linux down to a level that makes it a major inconvenience for most folks. Sheesh! It's not like it's the first time!]

Anyway, they bury NETBEUI on the xp installation cd, and make you dig through some READMEs or TechNet-KB-nonsense to find the information that tells you that the protocol went missing at some point in the past; and what to do to get it back.

Personally, I just set myself up with this:
http://www.gabston-howell.org/NETBEUI/
to make my life easier at customer sites (They can never find the install CD!).

Save yourself some time, if you like--or go skunking through your xp cd and find it.

Don't try to access the page with explorer, 'cause I've pretty-much banned IE from my site. Use Firefox or Opera, etc., and follow the directions on, or accessible from, that page.

When you're done, re-boot the windoze machine and login. You should at least be able to see the sharing machine from your Linux machine after all of that.

If you have further problems. Post back.
