Installing i865 printer

I have an i865 printer.

The add printer wizard shows the printer but there is no driver for the i865, just varios other printers from canon.

How do I instal it?

Great printer. Canon have driver source code available in Japanese on their ftp site, but I guess like me, you don't do too well with interpreting japanese, so the least painful method of installing is to purchase a Turboprint license from http://www.turboprint.de/english.html

You can try before you buy, but all pages come out with a turboprint logo.

I resisted at first, but the quality of their drivers is really good. One thing to watch out for though, if you're using any of the SM6.0 beta versions of Mepis right now, some issues with the turboprint driver have been raised.

Try the i800 driver, it worked for me

Hi

I have the i865 printer too. I choose the i800 driver from the wizard and the test page printed out fine. I've not used it in anger yet (only been using Mepis a couple of days) but it looks to work ok.

S630 driver works with i865 printer

If that driver doesn't work, try the S630 one. See this for more details
