Canon s300 print density problem
Posts: 14
I have just converted from Mandrake to SimplyMepis with general success and user satisfaction, but a definite snag is that in printed (b/w) documents (mainly from OpenOffice) the first page idiosyncratically prints with a much lighter density than the subsequent pages. Sometimes adding a blank dummy Page 1 will solve the problem, but that's a bit of a kludge. Any ideas, anybody?
For information, I am using CUPS with the Gutenberg driver, since at present the Gimp-flavoured driver refuses to be selected, even when in 'Administrator Mode'

Hello Peter , i think youll find gutenprint defaults to 300by 300 dpi resolution . If you havent discovered this allready with the later v5.02 or similar you have the option of raising it to 600by 600 . Depends whitch version of Mepis youre running , later version beta 1 has it allready . You can check in synaptic or kpackage the version you have . Anyway with later driver has more options . And should be available if needed.
