Security in the face of Etch instability

I have read of recent security bug fixes for xorg and firefox. I would like these fixes installed on my SM 3.4-3 "production" machine, but we have been admonished not to update from Etch, let alone Sid. What about
http://secure-testing.debian.net/debian-secure-testing/ etch/security-updates ?
When I enable this repository and "mark all upgrades" no package is selected. Same for the Sarge security repository.

Second question: When we move to SM 6.0 (gold) will there be a security repository that is updated in a timely fasion?

You don't get any package

You don't get any package because there's probably no package to be upgraded from the security repo.

Ubuntu releases it's own security upgrades. Actually that's the only thing that you'll get from Dapper repos. Dapper will be supported for 5 years (if I remember right, usually the support cycle for Ubuntu is 2-year support, but Dapper is special).

This is off-topic, I know

This is off-topic, I know but...

I hope Dapper and Etch are able to include the now fixed Xorg and the newly opensourced WiFi stack before going gold.
