What are your thoughts on FTP?

I use Konqueror exclusively for all my ftp/sftp/smb work. I does everything I need it to do and so I do not require an additional ftp client.

I used to use KBear but I dropped it once I realized Konqueror's abilities.

gFTP, I use it, it works great, it's a keeper

I use ftp all day to communicate with our various servers. After the KDE ftp program acquired the amazing ability to completely scramble my desktop, I switched to gftp and have been very happy with it. Please keep gftp in your distro.

The space considerations of the Live CD are understandable. Sticking with apps that have multiple capabilities have obvious advantages. Any app that duplicates what another already is capable of doing should only be included when there are clear and compelling reasons to do so.

When you can apt-get any FTP client you want post-install and also can use klik when running off the Live CD, it really doesn't seem practical to include duplicative apps.

But then again what do I know? I'm an idiot!

I use gFtp, but a tool I would not be without is d4X http://www.krasu.ru/soft/chuchelo/ for all my ISO downloads. Brilliant! TOTAL control of the download activity, you set the baud rate so that it can background whilst you are still using the web, and can then foreground it at the full rate when and where you want it to.

I've tried to use gFTP to transfer a large number of files to my ISP. The files were the WordPress package. It has never successfully transferred all of them. I'm not sure what the reason for that might be. It may or may not have anything to do with gFTP itself, but it makes me want to try something else, just to see.

Please keep gFTP. I haven't used the others, but wouldn't mind trying them out. I definitely need at least one ftp client though.

I use gftp and like it. I would like gqviow included in lieu of other image viewers.
