Firefox Downloader

I can't explain why but seems like Firefox has a bug when you download files and try to save them to a specified
folder. Having set it up to do so, the files I download are no where to be seen. They don't go to the folder I set
up in Download section of Firefox. . . . can't figure this one out.
Also I like to install 'Hugin' panorama. . .the files I need don't seem compatible with the origional 'Debian' ones.
(i.e. libpano12, . . . ) tried to see if I could find this program anywhere in the repositories and it's just doesn't
exist anymore. (Went to the Hugin sourceforge.net site and tried installing the files from there but got alot of file inconsistancies, compatiblility issues. . . and the files wouldn't install with k-package.
Seems to me alot of the software packages need more consistancy and there needs to be some emphasis in creating a stable pool for them by themselves. . .
A small problem with the moniter, I've installed (kubuntu and Ubuntu on a 64-bit computer, another system but using
this same flattop moniter. ) I was able to use the moniter at 1280X1024 also at 60hz. Mepis doesn't allow me to get out of 1024X768 at 71 hz. I tried to do some updateing with the Nvidia-glx files but am not sure what if anything happened of if my card is supported. . . minor problem, may need some guidance there.

Setting target directory for Firefox downloads

In Firefox, click Edit -> Preferences -> Downloads -> Ask me where to save every file. Firefox does remember where it put the previous file and lets you reuse that destination or navigate to a new one.

Microsoft and Open Source can play well together. Just look at how well Orca and penguins play together.

Created a download directory. It does not save there. It only works if you save the link. That is a bug

Thats interesting all my installs have defaulted to the desktop . After i remember to change the location to the shared folder it puts downloads there wothout fail . If you are creating a directory a sym link might cure your problem . Maybe it doesnt recognise it as part of the home directory. Or try aiming it to a home file to test it . Or am i missinterpreting your posts?

Downloading Files in Firefox & Mepis 6

Be sure to right-click and Save-As. If you just click on a link to download a file, Firefox will save it to /tmp
At least this is the behaviour in SimplyMepis 6.0 Alpha 1 I have been upgrading, but haven't really done any further testing on this problem. I just use the system daily for email and surfing the web.
