Alcatel Speedtouch 330 USB ADSL Modem Silver Model - Works

I am using Alcatel Speedtouch 330 USB ADSL Modem the silver model on Mepis 3.4.3 and 6.0 beta2.

It works fine using the nice script, driver and howtos provided by Steve Parker:
http://steve-parker.org/speedtouchconf/

Following the steps there, this is what I did on my situation:

1. Download the script: speedtouchconf.tar.gz
It's available here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=68502

It can be downloaded from several mirrors:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/speedtouchconf/speedtouchconf-2.0-09_Jan_2006.tar.gz?download

2. Download the firmware
My modem is the silver one, so I use this: rev4fw.zip

Downloaded it from here:
http://steve-parker.org/speedtouchconf/firmware/rev4fw.zip

3. Extract the files:
tar -xzvf speedtouchconf-2.0-09_Jan_2006.tar.gz

(This will create a new folder or directory named as: speedtouchconf-2.0-09_Jan_2006)

4. Save or copy the firmware (rev4fw.zip) into the speedtouchconf-2.0-09_Jan_2006 directory
(Note: just copy it into that directory, NO NEED to unzip it)

5. Change into the created speedtouchconf directory:
cd speedtouchconf-2.0-09_Jan_2006

Run the script as root:
# ./speedtouchconf.sh

Wait and follow the instructions:
I had to enter the VPI and VCI numbers and ISP Login ID and Password.

the modem will blink and connect.

Note:
Sample list of VPI and VCI numbers can be found here:
http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/faq/index.html#q12

All the best.

You can also use

You can also use speedtouch-ng. It work perfectly on Mepis 6.0 and it's very easy to configure it.
