Pendrive Packard Bell Easy-Store 1 gb

Hi at ALL, I'm really worried because my pendrive run well on Mepis 3.4, Ubuntu 5.10 and other distro-linux but on Mepis 6.0 beta 3 and beta 4 doesn't work well. Run well only when it has inserted before to start Mepis or after reboot. Why? I hope that in the next release candidate Of Mepis this problem will be resolved.

Thank in advance,
Daniele

Well this is the first time I have seen a problem with Pen Drives and SM_6.0, while SM_3.4 had a lot of problems with Pen Drives.
The only solotion that comes to mind is to boot with the Pen Drive and then as root open /etc/fstab move the line for the Pen Drive above "# Dynamic entries" and then save fstab. Now you should be able to plug the Pen Drive in at any time and have it working for you.

Thank Bad Dog for your reply.
You're really kind but your solution doesn't work and after to remove my pendrive I loose it until new reboot.

This is my fstab

# Pluggable devices are handled by uDev, they are not in fstab
/dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 ext3 noauto,users,exec 0 0
/dev/hda1 / ext3 defaults,noatime 1 1
/dev/hda2 swap swap sw,pri=1 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devmode=0666 0 0
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0622 0 0
none /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
# Dynamic entries below, identified by 'users' option
/dev/hda3 /mnt/hda3 ext3 noauto,users,exec 0 0
/dev/hda5 /mnt/hda5 ext3 noauto,users,exec 0 0
/dev/hda6 /mnt/hda6 ext3 noauto,users,exec 0 0
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom iso9660,udf noauto,users,exec,ro 0 0

I'm thinking to comeback to Mepis 3.4 in which all systems work really well.

I guess you tried it with no entry in the fstab.
I notice there is no entry for /home.
Please make an email to DEV, that will help all.
Sorry I could not help more. )-:

I really happy tell to you

I really happy tell to you that I was able to resolve the pendrive missing after to removed it.

I wrote in the static part of the fstab files the follow line

/dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 auto users,auto,defaults 0 0

then with the right mouse click I created a link between hard disk device and path named /dev/sda1.

Now all system run well .

I'm happy for you. (-: That should work with a "noauto", don't forget to unmount before you pull the Pen Drive.

Right Bad Dog, but above all

Right Bad Dog, but above all I must to tell that Mepis 6, Ubuntu and Kubuntu doesn't run well whitout the package called

ivman

It has a daemon to auto-mount and manage media devices and you can find it on Synaptic or into the new package manager of Kubuntu
