I now have to be logged in to see topic threads. Unless I do login only the first message in the thread is visible. Is this another site "improvement" or a bug?

I hope it's a

bug. If it's not...I don't like it as a 'feature'.

Whoops! Broke it again....I'm enjoying this too much.

Seems To Be True

I just tried to click on a lengthy thread (had 21 comments) without first logging in (went to Mepis Forum -> Active discussions). You are right richb, the only thing I saw was the initial statement and there was no ability to see the 21 associated comments.

Drlizau, was this an intentional change in the forum process to improve security perhaps? You seem to be the one most knowledgable in the inner workings of Mepis.org.

It seems that the only way that someone could "see the answers" to an issue is via Google eearch and check the underlying threads. Doesn't seem very user friendly to me Sad

Is this an "oops"?

interesting

and i didn't notice any change because provided the desktop is logged in every 3 days it retains the setting and continues to log me in.
I like forums where I can read what's there first - if there's nothing of interest to me or the replies are above my head, I won't register

I always make it a practice

I always make it a practice to logout when I leave the forum. I guess I whill now stay logged in. Still, as has been mentioned, not a very user friendly approach for non members just browsing.

edit: nope, I get logged out when I close my browser, and I do not want to leave my browser open, so I will just have to login everytime I visit the site, until it gets fixed that is. Smiling

Since It Hasn't Been Said Yet...

...I must say, the modifications to the forum are ok. They're not super-duper-splendid-amazing, but then I'm not the sort of guy who likes slam-bang-huge-changes. Slashdot recently announced the winner of their contest to re-design the site. The changes are not huge, but nice and crisp IMHO.

So I want to thank whomever for making adjustments in the overall forum. But it looks like there might need to be a little fine tuning of some of the features Smiling

To whom should we address these bugs/features/issues/requests?

Fixed

Sorry guys. We had some trouble with this when upgrading and it should be fixed now. Thanks for finding this and telling us about it.

Address Bar Icon

Don't forget to fix the short cut icon that is placed in the address bar when the site is loaded. It is still showing the Drupal icon.

I am glad to see the upgrade went well. I am a big fan of Drupal and I think it has grown in leaps in bounds over the past several months. It is greatly improved.

I am also glad to see the change in positioning of the blocks by having them on one side instead of both sides. I think the pages look and render better. This was an excellent decision.

New Slashdot design

Actually, the new /. design is live today. Nice incremental improvement, imho.

Email Addresses Are Not Posted

Tomash. This is a public forum. Because of that, and because there are so many people and processes that like to extract email addresses for spam, they are normally not listed.

If you have some questions or problems, please create an entry and ask. There are lots of people here who can help Smiling
