Morgantown, WV, Mar 29, 2010 -- MEPIS LLC has announced the availability of SimplyMEPIS 8.5 from MEPIS and public mirrors. The ISO files for 32 and 64 bit processors are SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.5.01-rel1_32.iso and SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.5.01-rel1_64.iso respectively. Deltas are also available.

SimplyMEPIS 8.5 RC2 is Available

Morgantown, WV, Mar 4, 2010 -- Warren Woodford has released SimplyMEPIS 8.4.99, RC2 of MEPIS 8.5, now available from MEPIS and public mirrors. The ISO files for 32 and 64 bit processors are SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.4.99-rc2_32.iso and SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.4.99-rc2_64.iso respectively. Deltas are also available.

Warren reported: "In the past week, we've fixed some bugs reported by the community and updated the MEPIS Assistants. And we've updated some packages containing bug fixes: digikam 1.1.0, ghostscript 8.71, kdebase-workspace 4.3.4-5 and wl-modules 5.60.48.36. The community is hard at work on translations, updated manual, and a couple of new utilities. I expect RC3 to be ready in a week or so. It should be the last RC before we go final with 8.5."

Celebrate Presidents Day with SimplyMEPIS 8.5 beta5

Morgantown, WV, Feb 15, 2010 -- MEPIS has announced SimplyMEPIS 8.4.97, the fifth beta of MEPIS 8.5, now available from MEPIS and public mirrors. The ISO files for 32 and 64 bit processors are SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.4.97-b5_32.iso and SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.4.97-b5_64.iso respectively. Deltas, requested by the MEPIS community, are also available.

Warren Woodford reported: "We are coming down the home stretch on the development of SimplyMEPIS version 8.5. There is some work to be done on MEPIS components, but the major packages are locked in to what may be their final versions. We've been asked to make more package updates, but we can't go much further without switching to a Debian Squeeze base."

SimplyMEPIS 8.0.15 Update Release

Morgantown, WV, Jan 12, 2010 -- MEPIS LLC has released SimplyMEPIS 8.0.15, an update to the community edition of MEPIS 8.0. The ISO files for 32 and 64 bit processors are SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.0.15-rel_32.iso and SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.0.15-rel_64.iso.

SimplyMEPIS 8.0 utilizes a Debian Lenny Stable foundation enhanced with a Long Term Support kernel, key package updates, and the MEPIS Assistant applications to create an up-to-date, ready to use system providing a KDE 3.5 desktop.

SimplyMEPIS 8.5 beta4 Greets a New Year

Morgantown, WV, Jan 4, 2010 -- Warren Woodford has announced that SimplyMEPIS 8.4.96, the beta4 of MEPIS 8.5, is available from MEPIS and public mirrors. The ISO files for 32 and 64 bit processors are SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.4.96-b4_32.iso and SimplyMEPIS-CD_8.4.96-b4_64.iso respectively. Deltas, requested by the community, are also available.

Warren said: "Even though the past 2 weeks were a holiday time, we have been busy. In this Beta I did a lot work on the look and feel of the KDE4 desktop. There have been many suggestions and contributions from the community, but in the end, someone had to make some decisions and integrate it all together. This took a lot of time. It isn't final, but I think it's very close."
